Top Fishing Bait Tips For Beginners

January 31, 2012

Fishing bait comes in many different forms and sizes. If you are new to fishing, it may not always be apparent which fishing bait you should choose. Let’s take a look at the different types of bait you may encounter:

Carp fishing baits

fisherman-

Carps are some of the largest fish in the sea. Fishing for carp can therefore be a very profitable business.  Carp fishing baits come in many different forms. Most anglers will choose boilies as bait, such as dynamite high attractant shelf life boilie. As the name suggests, boilies are a mixture of various different feeds that are bonded together during a boiling process. The good thing about boilies is that they are easy to prepare and last a good while in the water. Additionally, there is less risk of the bait falling off the hook. Boilies can be purchased off the shelf, frozen or homemade. As they are so accessible, boilies are the most popular form of carp fishing baits, and are ideal for both beginners and experienced fishers.

Sea fishing baits

When sea fishing, it is best to use baits such as crabs, ragworm, mackerel or squid. These are versatile baits that will attract many different species of fish. It is always a good idea to tip off worm baits with another form of bait. Squid is good for this purpose, as it can be cut into strips and the meat is tough and will remain on the hook. If fishing for bass, the head of a mackerel is good for attracting large specimens. This will also enable you to use other parts of the fish as bait for other purposes. You can use a mackerel fillet to attract not only bass, but also various types of rays.

Coarse fishing baits

Coarse fishing will present you with a variety of alternative types of fishing baits. Alongside bloodworms, boilies, groundbait and lobworms, you can use everyday items like cheese or even bread. If using bread as bait, it is very important to tip off the hook to ensure that the bait does not come off in the water. Bread can also be scattered on the water surface to attract fish to an area. Even if you decide not to use bread as hooked bait, it works well as a compliment to whatever other type of bait you are using. As mentioned, cheese is another good form of bait for attracting a variety of fish; Carps and Barbels are known to respond well to cheeses like cheddar and stilton.

Of course, you can also choose to stick with the more traditional types of bait. A good tip is to start off with groundbait, which will attract fish into your stream and then combine this with other types of bait. For carp fishing, boilies are once again the ideal form of bait and work well across the season. Another trick is to use lures and spinners, designed to mimic live bait. These come in many different shapes and bright colours, designed to attract fish in the water. Lures and spinners are a vital tool when fishing for coarse fish, and add a different level of excitement to your fishing experience.

Five Popular Tips for Caring For Your Chickens

If you want to collect fresh eggs in the back yard every day then you are ready to buy yourself a few chickens. Raising chickens can be very fun as well as productive. Chickens don’t require as much attention as other farm animals, so they are the perfect animal to raise if you don’t have a lot of time on your hands. Here are five popular poultry products which make raising chickens that much easier.

1. Chicken Feeders:

Chicken feeders are different from other animal feeders. Chickens like to perch while they eat, but they can also eat without perching. Most feeders will not have the perching option for your chickens. They simply hold an ample amount

of grain and feed, sasasssas which comes down to the bottom and into a tray that extends out about an inch. You can adjust the amount of food that comes down. The feeders have several separators to keep the chickens from standing in their food and scratching it out where unwanted pests like rats and field mice can come and eat the food and make a home close by. Most feeders are for indoor use or for undercover use unless they have a lid to protect the food from becoming wet.

2. Chicken Feed:

Your chickens need to have a balanced diet in order to produce healthy eggs so what you put into your chickens will ultimately wind up on your plate. Chickens need both feed and grit in their diet. The feed provides vitamins and nutrients like calcium for better egg production and the grit cleans their craw so they can digest their food with ease. You can also allow your chickens to run freely on the property and use the poultry feed to supplement their diet. Chickens can eat table scraps, vegetable peelings, wilted vegetables, soured milk, cores of apples, or rice. There are many supplemental poultry products to help your chickens maintain their health.

3. Chicken Houses:

Chicken houses can vary in shape, colour, and size. There are many options to choose from. The basics of a chicken house should include a roof, roosting pole, and one or two laying boxes inside. You can attach any size chicken yard to the chicken house in order to allow your chickens to wake up and step outside for some fresh bugs and grubs.

4. Chicken Pens:

Chickens can become easy prey for a cat, dogs, or foxes, so it is important to give them a closed in pen that will allow them to run around during the day, get out of the sunlight when it is too hot, ample room to set their food and watering pan, and portable so you can move your chickens around every couple of days. There are different designs of chicken pens available on the market.

5. Health Products

Yes, even chickens need health products from time to time. Products such as cider vinegar can help protect your chickens against molting, eggshell strength, decrease respiratory complications, Coccidiosis, worm burden, as well as feather pecking. You can also buy liquid feed supplements that when poured over the food or mixed in water the chickens will natural drink the medication. Most of these liquids contain vitamins such as iron or phosphorus which can boost their appetite and give them added vitamins they may not have.

Once you have these poultry products you can then order your chickens and begin raising them for a healthier lifestyle.
